The Mall at Johnson City Celebrates Summer with Moonlight Movies Series

JOHNSON CITY, TN (June 2, 2021) – The Mall at Johnson City announced today Moonlight Movies returns with five drive-in style movies to celebrate the summer season with the community. Now that the school year is nearly over and warm weather has arrived, The Mall at Johnson City is excited to host the following films as part of the Moonlight Movies Series:

  • Thursday, June 3, 9:15 p.m. Moana
  • Thursday, June 10, 9:15 p.m. Frozen II
  • Thursday, June 17, 9:15 p.m. Spiderman
  • Thursday, June 24, 9:15 p.m. Toy Story 4

The Moonlight Movies at The Mall at Johnson City will celebrate the season with drive-in movies helping our neighbors in need. Parking begins at 8:30 p.m. and the movie will start at 9:15 p.m. The event has a limited capacity and requires registration in advance. Additional information and registration through Eventbrite can be found by visiting and will be updated each Monday for the movie of the week. Each film showing also features character meet and greets once parking starts until 9:30 p.m. The event benefits local charity Cherished Mom and attendees are encouraged to make a $5 donation per vehicle. Cherished Mom promotes support, awareness and education for those experiencing perinatal mood disorders. Through events like Moonlight Movies, The Mall at Johnson City continues to embrace its commitment to giving back to the Appalachian Highlands community and the people it serves.

The Mall at Johnson City remains focused on providing a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. In response to the continued need to address COVID-19, the Center has proactively implemented additions to the Code of Conduct, effective until further notice. These additions include the following guidelines:

•             Practice social distancing and stay at least 6 feet (2 meters) from other people.

•             Covering your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover in accordance with state and local guidelines.

•             Do not gather in groups.

•             Adhere to each individual tenant’s COVID-19 policies.

•             Adhere to all federal, state and local regulations, recommendations and mandates regarding COVID-19.

In addition, The Mall at Johnson City’s already rigorous disinfectant and cleaning practices will continue, many times per day, including periodically disinfecting areas most susceptible to the spread of germs. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer dispensers are located in highly-trafficked areas and walkways for public use.
