The Mall at Johnson City Celebrates 50 Years with Anniversary Party

Ribbon cutting to kick-off at 11 a.m., followed by family-friendly activities to celebrate the Miracle Mall’s 50th Anniversary

JOHNSON CITY, TN (Sept. 28, 2021) – The Mall at Johnson City is kicking off the fall season with its 50th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 2 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the lower level parking lot and newly renovated Entrance B Plaza. The event will feature entertaining, family-friendly activities such as live music, princess appearances, a circus arts performance, yard games, selfie stations, inflatables, food trucks and more. 

The 50th Anniversary Celebration will kick-off  at 11 a.m. with a ribbon cutting with the Johnson City Chamber and Pink Tile Awards. Night Owl Circus Arts will provide an aerial silks performance from noon – 2 p.m. and The Kindest People will take the stage from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from a variety of favorite local food trucks including Trucky Cheese, Lettuce Wraps, Blues Brews and Mimi’s Cookies and Creamery. Guests can also look forward to selfie stations and inflatables as well as strolling princesses throughout the event.

Admission is free, and guests are encouraged to bring food or toy donations for the dogs and cats of The Washington County, TN Animal Shelter. The first 200 guests will receive a free Miracle Mall branded coffee mug. Through events like the 50th Anniversary Party, The Mall at Johnson City continues to embrace its commitment to giving back to the Tri Cities and the people it serves.

We look forward to welcoming guests young and old to share their memories and enjoy a fun day reflecting on all the progress the Miracle Mall has made over the years.”

The 50th Anniversary Celebration wraps up a summer of growth for The Mall at Johnson City. The town center has welcomed five new national tenants this year;

  • Enticing food and beverage concept Chicken Salad Chick and Chipotle Mexican Grill’s first location in the Tri-Cities, anchoring a new multi-tenant building along North Roan Street opened in spring 2021; and
  • Family-owned retailer Rose & Remington, featuring luxury boho-chic-style clothing, accessories, and home décor, located on the upper level next to Zumiez, made its debut in the state in spring 2021; and
  • In-demand retailer Curve & Cloth, a trendy and affordable boutique for women sizes, also made its debut in the state in spring 2021, and is located on upper level next to Francesca’s; and
  • HomeGoods opened its first location in the Tri-Cities in September, anchoring the replacement of the former Sears location.

In addition, new to market Palmetto Moon, a stylish apparel, footwear, gift and collegiate wear retailer, opened in June 2020.

The Mall at Johnson City is also in the process of adding its second mural project with East Tennessee State University Alumni Caitlin Maupin. The mural will feature a variety of scenes reflecting East Tennessee will be complete just in time for the 50th Anniversary Celebration.

The Mall at Johnson City remains focused on providing a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. In the continued need to address COVID-19, the town center has proactively implemented additions to the Code of Conduct, effective until further notice.

These additions include the following guidelines:

  • Practice social distancing and stay at least 6 feet (2 meters) from other people.
  • Covering your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover in accordance with state and local guidelines.
  • Do not gather in groups.
  • Adhere to each individual tenant’s COVID-19 policies.
  • Adhere to all federal, state and local regulations, recommendations and mandates regarding COVID-19.

The Mall at Johnson City’s already rigorous disinfectant and cleaning practices will also continue many times per day, including periodically disinfecting areas most susceptible to the spread of germs. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer dispensers are located in highly-trafficked areas and walkways for public use.
